    Austrian cybersecurity startup Signpath raised €5M to expand its software solutions for securing supply chains. Meanwhile, French BforeAI raised €9M to develop predictive cybersecurity tools.

    French company Otrera raised funding for new-generation nuclear reactors aimed at safer, cleaner energy production.

  • Adding noise reduction and auditory innovation to eyewear.
    EssilorLuxottica, known for eyewear, is diversifying into auditory technologies with its acquisition of Pulse Audition, focusing on noise reduction solutions.

  • Getting accurate ocean data.
    Irish company Xocean raised €119M for their uncrewed surface vessels that gather vital ocean data for climate and environmental research.

Public Sector Highlights

There is no advance this week on key EU/Acc initiatives EU-inc and European Nasdaq. 

Instant SEPA transfers go live.
As of January 9th, the EU’s Instant Payments Regulation is in effect. Businesses and startups can now leverage faster cross-border transactions, opening doors for innovation and new business models.

Armenia’s EU aspirations.
Armenia has taken its first steps toward EU accession, signaling a shift in its geopolitical alignment.

Greenland geopolitics.
Tensions over Greenland’s future intensify. The US is lobbying to maintain influence, while Europe could make a strategic move to bring Greenland closer to its sphere.
